1
Stand facing a pull-up bar with feet hip-width apart and arms fully extended overhead, gripping the bar with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width using an overhand grip
2
Engage core and maintain neutral spine with slight knee bend if needed for stability. Depress shoulders and retract scapula slightly before initiating the pull
3
Lower body in a controlled manner by extending arms overhead, resisting the gravitational force through eccentric contraction of the latissimus dorsi and back muscles. Maintain upright torso position throughout
4
Pull body upward by driving elbows down and back, retracting scapula and flexing shoulders. Continue until chin is above bar level or chest approaches bar. Squeeze lats at peak contraction before lowering with control
