1
Lie flat on your back on a bench with legs extended or feet resting on the bench edge. Position your body so the bench supports your back and torso is off the bench edge for full range of motion.
2
Place hands behind your head with fingers interlaced but not pulling on the neck. Keep elbows out to the sides. Engage your core and prepare to lift your upper body toward your thighs.
3
Lower your upper body backward in a controlled manner, allowing your torso to extend and lengthen the abdominal muscles. Keep a slight bend in your knees and do not allow your back to hyperextend excessively.
4
Contract your abdominal muscles and pull your upper body forward and upward toward your knees, curling your spine. Bring your chest toward your thighs in a controlled crunching motion, then lower back to starting position.
