1
Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell at chest height with hands shoulder-width apart. Keep chest up, shoulders back, and core engaged.
2
Position the barbell across the front of the shoulders with elbows pointing forward. Ensure feet are planted firmly with weight distributed through heels and midfoot. Maintain neutral spine alignment.
3
Initiate descent by simultaneously bending at the hips and knees, lowering the body in a controlled manner. Keep knees tracking over toes and chest upright. Lower until thighs are parallel to ground or slightly below, maintaining tension in quadriceps.
4
Drive through heels and midfoot to extend hips and knees simultaneously, returning to standing position. Maintain barbell position at chest and upright torso throughout the ascent phase. Complete extension at top represents one repetition.
