Stationary Bike Run

Instructions

1
Sit upright on the stationary bike seat with your back against the backrest, feet positioned on the pedals, and hands gripping the handlebars. Adjust the seat height so that your knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
2
Position your feet flat on the pedals with the ball of your foot over the pedal axle. Grip the handlebars lightly and maintain an upright posture. Ensure resistance is set to a moderate level appropriate for your fitness level.
3
As you pedal downward and backward, allow your knee to extend while the hip begins to flex slightly. The quadriceps lengthens as resistance increases during the upstroke portion of the pedal cycle.
4
Drive through the front of your thigh (quadriceps) to push the pedal downward and forward in a smooth circular motion. Power through the downstroke by extending the knee and hip, then transition to the next pedal cycle. Maintain a steady cadence of 80-100 RPM.

Overview

If you want to isolate and overload the Quadriceps, the Stationary Bike Run is an excellent addition to your routine. The mechanics of this Cardio exercise specifically bias the Cardio, while the use of Leverage machine allows for a smooth, natural resistance curve.

Benefits

  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Quadriceps.
  • Allows for a natural movement path that closely mimics functional daily activities.
  • Acts as a highly scalable Cardio movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.

Common Mistakes

  • Failing to achieve a full range of motion, which drastically limits Quadriceps engagement.
  • Using excessive momentum to swing the Leverage machine rather than controlling the eccentric phase.
  • Shrugging the shoulders or compensating with secondary muscles rather than isolating the Quadriceps.
  • Losing core tension, leading to poor spinal alignment and reduced power output.

Pro Tips

If you feel this primarily in your joints rather than the Quadriceps, instantly lower the weight and readjust your Leverage machine setup.

Beginner Tips

If you are new to the Stationary Bike Run , focus on mastering the movement pattern with zero weight before adding Leverage machine.
