1
Stand centered inside the smith machine rack with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned under the barbell at approximately mid-chest height. Grip the barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width using an overhand grip.
2
Unrack the barbell by pressing it upward and forward slightly. Position feet with toes pointing forward or slightly outward. Maintain an upright torso with neutral spine alignment throughout the movement.
3
Initiate the descent by flexing the hips and knees simultaneously, lowering your body in a controlled manner. Descend until thighs reach approximately parallel to the ground (or slightly deeper depending on mobility), maintaining knee alignment over toes and keeping chest upright.
4
Drive through the midfoot and heels to extend the hips and knees, returning to the standing position. Maintain control throughout the ascent and avoid hyperextending the knees at the top. Return to the starting position with a slight knee bend.
