1
Stand inside the Smith machine with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned slightly forward of center. Place the barbell across the shoulders at upper trapezius level. Maintain upright posture with neutral spine and engaged core.
2
Grip the barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width using an overhand grip. Tighten your core and take a deep breath to prepare for the descent.
3
Lower your body by bending at the knees and hips, descending in a controlled manner until thighs reach approximately parallel to the ground or slightly below. Keep chest upright, knees tracking over toes, and weight distributed evenly through the midfoot and heels.
4
Drive through the midfoot and heels to extend the knees and hips, pressing back to the starting standing position. Exhale as you ascend, maintaining neutral spine alignment throughout the concentric phase.
