Smith Single Leg Split Squat

Instructions

1
Stand upright in the Smith machine with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned slightly forward under the barbell. Place the barbell across the upper back and shoulders, gripping with hands slightly wider than shoulder width. Maintain neutral spine alignment with chest up and core engaged.
2
Set feet in a stance that allows for full knee flexion without forward knee cave. Engage core and take a deep breath to prepare for the descent. Ensure the barbell rests securely on the trapezius and rear deltoids, not the neck.
3
Lower your body by bending at the knees and hips simultaneously, descending in a controlled manner. Continue lowering until the thighs reach parallel to the ground or slightly below, maintaining an upright torso and weight in the midfoot. Keep knees tracking over toes without caving inward.
4
Drive through the midfoot and heels to extend the knees and hips, pushing the body back to the starting position. Maintain spinal alignment throughout the ascent and avoid locking out knees at the top. Exhale as you complete the concentric phase.
