1
Stand upright inside the power rack with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned under the barbell resting on the squat rack at approximately upper trapezius height. Grip the barbell with a shoulder-width or slightly wider grip, using an overhand grip position.
2
Place the barbell across the upper back and shoulders, secure the grip, and position the balls of the feet on a stable elevated platform (box, step, or rack base) with heels extending off the edge. Keep the torso upright and core engaged throughout the movement.
3
Lower the heels below the level of the toes by allowing the ankles to plantarflex (bend downward), creating a stretch in the calf muscles. Move slowly and controlled through the full range of motion, feeling the calf muscles lengthen.
4
Drive through the balls of the feet and contract the calf muscles to raise the heels as high as possible above the platform, achieving a maximal plantarflexion (rising onto toes). Hold the top position briefly, then return to the lowered position in a controlled manner.
