1
Stand facing the Smith machine with feet shoulder-width apart. Position yourself so the bar is at approximately mid-chest level when arms are at rest. Maintain an upright posture with neutral spine and engaged core.
2
Grip the barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width, using an overhand grip. Ensure the bar rests on your front deltoids and upper chest. Brace your core and keep your elbows positioned slightly forward and under the bar.
3
Lower the barbell by bending your elbows in a controlled manner. The elbows should track downward and slightly forward, maintaining their position under the bar. Descend until your elbows reach approximately 90 degrees or slightly below parallel with the floor. Keep the bar close to your body throughout the movement.
4
Drive the barbell upward by extending your elbows and pressing through your shoulders. Press the weight overhead in a controlled arc, finishing with your arms extended and the bar directly above your shoulders. Return to the starting position at mid-chest level and repeat.
