Sled 45 degrees Leg Press

Instructions

1
Sit on the leg press machine with back and head firmly against the padded support. Position feet on the platform shoulder-width apart with toes pointing forward or slightly outward.
2
Grip the handles at your sides for stability. Position feet mid-platform with knees at approximately 90 degrees in the starting position. Ensure lower back remains neutral against the backrest.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees, allowing them to descend toward your chest while maintaining contact with the backrest. Lower until knees reach approximately 90 degrees or slightly beyond, keeping knees aligned over ankles.
4
Drive through the midfoot and heels to extend your legs and push the platform away, returning to the starting position. Fully extend legs without locking knees at the top of the movement.

Overview

When programming for Quadriceps growth, the Sled 45 degrees Leg Press stands out as a highly efficient Strength choice. Performing this movement with Sled machine forces your stabilizer muscles to work in tandem with the primary movers, translating to functional strength and enhanced muscular endurance.

Benefits

  • Promotes balanced muscular development by effectively recruiting the Quadriceps and associated synergists.
  • Utilizes Sled machine to create sustained mechanical tension, forcing deep muscle adaptation.
  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Quadriceps.
  • Acts as a highly scalable Strength movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Thighs injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.

Common Mistakes

  • Rushing the repetition tempo instead of focusing on the mind-muscle connection with the Thighs.
  • Shrugging the shoulders or compensating with secondary muscles rather than isolating the Quadriceps.
  • Losing core tension, leading to poor spinal alignment and reduced power output.

Muscle Anatomy

The primary driver is the Quadriceps. However, the movement also recruits Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings, Adductors to maintain control of the Sled machine.

Beginner Tips
