1
Lie flat on your back on a floor or exercise mat with knees bent and feet firmly planted hip-width apart. Hands positioned behind the head with elbows out to sides, or crossed over chest. Keep neck neutral with eyes focused on ceiling.
2
Engage core muscles by drawing navel toward spine. Maintain neutral neck position to avoid pulling on head during movement. Ensure feet remain in contact with floor throughout exercise.
3
Lower torso back toward starting position by extending hips and allowing knees to straighten slightly as legs extend upward. Control the descent with abdominal muscles to maintain tension. Movement is slow and controlled.
4
Drive movement by flexing spine and hips simultaneously, bringing knees toward chest while lifting torso toward knees. Contract abdominals maximally at top of movement. Return to starting position with control and repeat.
