1
Sit on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and your knees aligned with the machine's pivot point. Position your feet behind the ankle pad with your legs at approximately 90 degrees of knee flexion.
2
Grasp the side handles of the machine for stability. Ensure your lower back maintains contact with the backrest throughout the movement. Position your feet hip-width apart or slightly narrower on the footpad.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees in a controlled manner, allowing your legs to move downward toward your body. Maintain a 2-3 second eccentric phase without allowing the weight stack to fully rest at the bottom.
4
Drive through the entire foot and extend your knees fully, pressing the weight upward until your legs are nearly straight but knees remain slightly bent at the top. Squeeze the quadriceps for a brief 1-second pause before beginning the next repetition.
