1
Sit upright on a flat bench with feet firmly planted on the floor. Position your torso in an upright posture with shoulders relaxed. Maintain neutral spine alignment with core engaged.
2
Place hands beside hips with palms facing downward on the bench, fingers pointing forward. Retract scapulae slightly to establish proper posture before beginning the movement.
3
Lower body by bending elbows and allowing shoulders to depress downward. Control the eccentric phase as triceps and shoulder stabilizers lengthen. Maintain upright torso position without leaning forward excessively.
4
Press through hands to extend elbows and elevate body upward. Shrug shoulders toward ears at the top of the movement to maximize trapezius contraction. Return to starting position with controlled tempo.
