Instructions

1
Sit on the floor with knees bent and feet flat. Recline back slightly with torso at approximately 45-degree angle. Place hands across chest or behind head for support.

Secure feet firmly on ground or have partner hold them. Engage core muscles and prepare to lift legs. Maintain neutral spine alignment throughout preparation.
3
Slowly lower legs toward the ground in a controlled manner by extending the knees and hip flexors. Keep lower back pressed to floor to prevent arching. Lower until legs approach ground or until lower back begins to lift.

Benefits

  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Rectus Abdominis.
  • Allows for a natural movement path that closely mimics functional daily activities.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Waist injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.
  • Acts as a highly scalable Strength movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.

Pro Tips

To maximize the Russian Twist, actively squeeze the Rectus Abdominis at the peak of the contraction for a full second.

Muscle Anatomy

The primary driver is the Rectus Abdominis. However, the movement also recruits Iliopsoas, Rectus Femoris, Tensor Fasciae Latae, Obliques to maintain control of the Body weight.
