1
Stand facing the pull-up bar with feet hip-width apart, ready to jump or use assistance. Grip the bar with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width, using an overhand or neutral grip position.
2
Jump or push off with legs to assist initial movement. Engage core and prepare to pull body upward by retracting shoulder blades and initiating lat contraction.
3
Lower body in a controlled manner by extending arms and allowing shoulders to protract, lengthening the latissimus dorsi and other pulling muscles. Maintain engaged core throughout descent.
4
Drive elbows downward and backward, pulling body upward until chin passes or approaches bar level. Squeeze latissimus dorsi at top of movement, then return to starting position with control.
