1
Sit on a bench with feet secured under a foot pad or held by a partner. Recline back at approximately 45-60 degrees with torso supported by the bench. Keep hands crossed over chest or behind head.
2
Grip the bench sides lightly for stability. Position feet firmly under the foot pad. Engage core muscles before initiating movement. Maintain a neutral neck position throughout.
3
Slowly lower torso backward in a controlled manner by extending through the spine and abdominal region. Allow the abdominal muscles to lengthen as you recline. Stop before reaching full horizontal position to maintain tension.
4
Contract abdominal muscles and pull torso forward and upward toward knees using core strength. Return to seated upright position while maintaining controlled movement. Squeeze abdominals at the top of the movement.
