1
Sit on the leg press machine with back and head resting firmly against the padded support. Place feet on the platform about hip to shoulder-width apart with toes pointing slightly outward. Position feet in the middle of the platform with knees at approximately 90 degrees.
2
Grip the handles on either side of the seat for stability. Keep your chest upright and shoulders back against the backrest. Engage your core and maintain neutral spine alignment throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees, allowing them to track over your toes. Lower until knees reach approximately 90 degrees of flexion or slightly less, without allowing knees to cave inward. Keep movement controlled with a 2-3 second tempo. Do not lock knees or allow them to extend past your toes.
4
Press through the midfoot and heels to extend the knees, driving the platform away from your body in a controlled manner. Return to the starting position by fully extending the legs, stopping just short of locking out the knees. Maintain constant tension on the quadriceps throughout the concentric phase.
