1
Sit on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and your legs at 90 degrees. Position your feet under the padded lever arm with knees aligned with the machine's axis of rotation.
2
Grip the handles on the sides of the seat for stability. Ensure proper posture with shoulders relaxed and core engaged. Adjust the pad height so it rests on the lower shin just above the ankle.
3
Slowly lower the weight stack by bending your knees in a controlled manner, allowing the lever arm to descend until your knees reach approximately 90 degrees of flexion.
4
Drive through the quadriceps to extend the legs, pressing the lever arm upward until your legs are nearly straight (avoid locking out the knees). Squeeze the quadriceps at the top of the movement before returning to the starting position.
