Lever Seated Leg Press

Instructions

1
Sit upright on the leg press machine with back and head resting firmly against the padded support. Position feet on the platform shoulder-width apart with toes pointing forward or slightly outward.
2
Ensure knees are aligned with toes and do not extend beyond them. Grip the handles on either side for stability. Disengage the safety handles to prepare for movement.
3
Lower the platform by bending knees and hips in a controlled manner. Allow knees to flex until they reach approximately 90 degrees. Do not allow knees to collapse inward or cave in toward center.
4
Drive through the entire foot, extending legs to press the platform away. Extend knees and hips to return to starting position without fully locking out knees at the top. Maintain control throughout the concentric phase.

Overview

If you want to isolate and overload the Quadriceps, the Lever Seated Leg Press is an excellent addition to your routine. The mechanics of this Strength exercise specifically bias the Hips, Thighs, while the use of Leverage machine allows for a smooth, natural resistance curve.

Benefits

  • Promotes balanced muscular development by effectively recruiting the Quadriceps and associated synergists.
  • Allows for a natural movement path that closely mimics functional daily activities.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Hips, Thighs injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.
  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Quadriceps.
  • Acts as a highly scalable Strength movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.

Common Mistakes

  • Shrugging the shoulders or compensating with secondary muscles rather than isolating the Quadriceps.
  • Failing to achieve a full range of motion, which drastically limits Quadriceps engagement.
  • Losing core tension, leading to poor spinal alignment and reduced power output.

Pro Tips

If you feel this primarily in your joints rather than the Quadriceps, instantly lower the weight and readjust your Leverage machine setup.

Muscle Anatomy

The primary driver is the Quadriceps. However, the movement also recruits Vastus Medialis, Vastus Lateralis, Rectus Femoris, Tibialis Anterior to maintain control of the Leverage machine.

Beginner Tips

If you are new to the Lever Seated Leg Press, focus on mastering the movement pattern with zero weight before adding Leverage machine.
