1
Sit upright on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and hips positioned at the back of the seat. Position your feet under the footpad with knees bent at approximately 90 degrees.
2
Grasp the handle bars on both sides of the seat for stability. Keep your core engaged and maintain an upright posture throughout the movement. Ensure the pad rests just above your ankles on the tops of your feet.
3
Slowly lower the weight by allowing your knees to bend, controlling the descent of the footpad. Lower until your knees reach approximately 90 degrees of flexion or slightly less, maintaining tension in the quadriceps throughout the negative phase.
4
Drive through your heels and extend your legs forward, straightening your knees against the resistance of the machine. Extend fully but do not lock out your knees completely at the top. Return to the starting position with controlled movement.
