1
Sit on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and hips positioned against the seat. Place your feet under the lever pad with legs bent at approximately 90 degrees. Grasp the handles on either side of the seat for stability.
2
Adjust the machine so the lever pad contacts your shins just above the ankles. Position your knees aligned with the machine's pivot point. Engage your core and maintain neutral spine alignment throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees in a controlled manner, allowing the lever to descend until your knees reach approximately 90 degrees of flexion. Maintain constant tension on the quadriceps throughout the lowering phase without allowing the weight to rest completely at the bottom.
4
Drive through your quadriceps to extend your knees, straightening your legs against the resistance. Extend to near full knee extension (stopping just short of locking out completely to maintain tension). Pause briefly at the top, then begin the next repetition.
