1
Sit on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and hips positioned against the seat. Adjust the machine so the pivot point aligns with your knee joint. Place your feet under the foot pad with legs at approximately 90 degrees.
2
Grip the handles on either side of the seat for stability. Position your feet shoulder-width apart under the foot pad. Ensure your lower back remains in contact with the backrest throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees and allowing your legs to descend in a controlled manner. Lower until your knees reach approximately 90 degrees of flexion or as far as comfortable without rounding your lower back.
4
Drive through your quadriceps to extend your legs upward, pushing the foot pad away until your legs are nearly straight but not locked out at the top. Squeeze your quadriceps at full extension before beginning the next repetition.
