1
Sit upright on the machine seat with feet firmly planted on the floor or footrest. Grasp the overhead handle with a wide grip, arms fully extended overhead, shoulders relaxed but engaged.
2
Position hands slightly wider than shoulder-width on the horizontal bar. Ensure torso is upright with a slight forward lean of approximately 10-15 degrees from vertical. Brace core and maintain neutral spine throughout.
3
Slowly lower the bar toward the chest in a controlled manner by extending the arms and allowing the shoulders to elevate slightly. Resist the weight as it returns to the starting position, feeling a stretch in the latissimus dorsi and shoulders.
4
Pull the bar downward and toward the upper chest by depressing and retracting the scapulae. Drive elbows down and back, squeezing the lats at the bottom position where the bar reaches approximately collarbone level. Return to start position with controlled movement.
