1
Sit upright on the machine seat with your back against the backrest. Position your feet flat on the foot platform or floor. Grasp the handle with both hands using a neutral or slightly pronated grip at shoulder width or slightly wider.
2
Ensure your torso is upright and core is engaged. Maintain a neutral spine with chest open. Pull the handle toward your torso by driving your elbows down and back, initiating the movement from the lats rather than the arms.
3
Allow the handle to move forward in a controlled manner as your arms extend. Feel the stretch in the latissimus dorsi as the handle returns to the starting position. Maintain upright posture throughout the eccentric phase without allowing forward trunk flexion.
4
Drive your elbows down and back in a powerful motion, pulling the handle toward your lower chest/upper abdomen. Squeeze the lats at the peak contraction. Return to the starting position with control, maintaining tension throughout the movement without fully locking out the arms.
