1
Sit on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and hips seated on the machine seat. Position your legs under the leg extension lever pad, with the pad resting on the front of your lower legs just above your ankles. Keep your hands on the side handles for stability.
2
Adjust the machine seat so the knee joint aligns with the machine's pivot point. Grasp the handles firmly with both hands. Feet should be positioned hip-width apart with toes pointing forward. Ensure your back remains against the backrest throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the weight by bending your knees in a controlled manner, allowing the leg extension lever to descend. Lower until your knee reaches approximately 90 degrees of flexion. Maintain contact with the backrest and keep tension on the quadriceps throughout the descent.
4
Drive through your heels and extend your legs by straightening your knees, pushing the lever up against the resistance. Extend until your legs are nearly straight but knees remain slightly flexed at the top. Pause briefly at full extension and squeeze the quadriceps before beginning the next repetition.
