1
Sit upright on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest, feet positioned under the padded lever arm, knees bent at approximately 90 degrees, and hands gripping the side handles for stability
2
Position the padded footplate across the front of your lower legs just above the ankles. Ensure your knees are aligned with the machine's pivot point and your torso remains upright without leaning back
3
Slowly lower the padded lever arm by allowing your knees to bend in a controlled manner, returning toward the starting position without letting the weight stack touch down completely
4
Drive through your feet to extend your knees fully, straightening your legs against the resistance of the machine until your quadriceps are fully contracted at the top of the movement, then control the descent back to the starting position
