1
Sit upright on the leg extension machine with your back firmly against the backrest and torso erect. Position your feet under the foot pad with legs at approximately 90 degrees at the knee joint. Grip the handles on either side of the seat for stability.
2
Adjust the machine so the pivot point aligns with your knee joint. Place the top of your feet or instep under the padded lever arm. Ensure your knees are aligned with the machine's axis of rotation and positioned at the edge of the seat.
3
Slowly lower the foot pad in a controlled manner by allowing your knees to bend, returning toward the starting position. Move through the full range of motion without locking or hyperextending the knee at the bottom of the movement. Maintain contact with the backrest throughout.
4
Powerfully extend your legs by straightening the knees and lifting the foot pad upward through the quadriceps contraction. Extend until the legs are nearly straight but avoid complete knee lockout at the top. Squeeze the quadriceps briefly before initiating the next eccentric phase.
