1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell at mid-thigh with an overhand or mixed grip. Maintain a neutral spine with shoulders back and core engaged.
2
Position the barbell close to your body with shins nearly vertical. Engage your core and take a deep breath to brace your midsection before initiating the movement.
3
Lower the barbell by hinging at the hips and bending the knees slightly, keeping the bar close to your body and your back straight. Descend until you feel a stretch in the hamstrings, maintaining a neutral spine throughout the descent.
4
Drive through your heels and extend the hips and knees simultaneously, pulling the barbell up along your body. Complete the movement by standing fully upright with hips fully extended, squeezing the glutes at the top before returning to the starting position.
