1
Position body in a reclined angle on the Smith machine or pull-up bar frame, gripping the bar with both hands at shoulder-width apart, arms slightly flexed, and body angled approximately 45 degrees from horizontal
2
Engage core muscles and maintain a neutral spine position with neck in alignment. Plant feet firmly or secure legs for stability. Take a deep breath to prepare for the movement
3
Slowly lower the torso backward by extending the abdominal muscles in a controlled manner, allowing the bar to move away from the body while maintaining grip and arm position. Lower to a comfortable stretch position without hyperextending the spine
4
Pull the torso upward and forward by contracting the abdominal muscles, lifting the chest toward the bar through flexion of the spine. Return to the starting position with controlled movement, exhaling as you complete the concentric phase
