1
Position body horizontally suspended below the pull-up bar with hands gripping the bar slightly wider than shoulder width, arms extended, body forming a straight line from head to heels, feet either crossed or together for stability.
2
Engage core and maintain neutral spine. Grip the bar with hands in an overhand or neutral grip position. Ensure shoulders are packed and scapulae retracted slightly to prepare for chest engagement.
3
Lower body in a controlled manner by allowing elbows to bend and flare outward at approximately 45 degrees from the torso. Maintain a straight body alignment while descending until chest nearly touches or approaches the bar, keeping core tight throughout.
4
Press through the chest and engage pectoralis major to drive body upward back to starting position. Focus on chest contraction rather than arm strength. Return to full arm extension with control, completing one repetition.
