1
Stand facing the pull-up bar with feet hip-width apart on the floor or platform. Grasp the horizontal bar with an overhand grip, hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Maintain an upright posture with core engaged.
2
Assume a neutral spine position with shoulders packed down and back. Depress and retract scapulae slightly. Keep chest up and eyes forward. Ensure grip is secure and firm on the bar.
3
Initiate the movement by bending elbows and allowing the body to lower under control. Maintain a straight or slightly arched torso. Lower until arms are nearly fully extended but elbows retain a slight bend to prevent elbow locking.
4
Drive elbows down and back, engaging the latissimus dorsi to pull the body upward. Continue pulling until the upper chest approaches the bar. Return to the starting position with controlled movement, maintaining tension throughout. Exhale during the pulling phase.
