1
Sit on an incline bench set to 45-60 degrees with back firmly against the backrest. Position feet flat on floor or footrest for stability. Shoulders should be retracted and depressed against the bench.
2
Grip the EZ-bar or barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. The bar should be held at approximately lower chest level with elbows bent at approximately 90 degrees. Wrists should be neutral or slightly extended.
3
Lower the barbell in a controlled manner by allowing the elbows to bend and move outward and downward. The bar should travel in an arc toward the lower chest area. Maintain contact with the bench and control the eccentric movement over 2-3 seconds without bouncing.
4
Press the barbell upward and slightly inward by extending the elbows and contracting the chest muscles. Return to the starting position with the arms nearly fully extended but without locking the elbows at the top. Complete the movement in 1-2 seconds.
