1
Lie supine on a flat bench with feet planted firmly on the floor or bench. Position body with back flat against the bench, shoulders retracted, and chest elevated. Hold dumbbells at chest level with elbows bent at approximately 90 degrees.
2
Grip dumbbells with neutral grip (palms facing each other). Position arms so elbows are slightly below shoulder level. Ensure core is engaged and lower back maintains natural arch without excessive hyperextension.
3
Lower dumbbells in a controlled manner by allowing elbows to descend outward and slightly forward. The descent should follow a natural arc, bringing dumbbells toward chest level while maintaining control. Lower until dumbbells reach approximately chest height or slight stretch is felt in pectoral muscles.
4
Press dumbbells upward and inward in an arc motion, driving through chest muscles. Extend arms to near-lockout position at top of movement while maintaining slight elbow bend. Return to starting position and repeat for prescribed repetitions.
