1
Stand upright on a step or aerobic platform with balls of feet on the edge, heels hanging off the platform. Hold dumbbells at sides with neutral grip. Maintain neutral spine and engage core throughout movement.
2
Position feet hip-width apart with weight distributed evenly across the balls of both feet. Grip dumbbells firmly and keep arms relaxed at sides. Ensure heels are fully unsupported and clear of the platform.
3
Slowly lower heels below the level of the platform by dorsiflexing ankles, creating a stretch in the calf muscles. Control the descent over 2-3 seconds, feeling tension build in the gastrocnemius and soleus.
4
Drive through the balls of feet and plantarflex ankles to raise heels above platform level. Squeeze calves maximally at top of movement, lifting bodyweight and dumbbells. Return to starting position under control.
