Lower the dumbbells in a controlled manner by allowing the arms to drop down toward the sides, keeping a slight elbow bend and maintaining shoulder stability

Raise the dumbbells laterally by abducting the shoulders, lifting arms out to the sides until they reach approximately shoulder height or slightly above, then return to starting position
