Sit on a flat bench with feet flat on the ground and a step or platform in front. Hold dumbbells in both hands resting on the thighs just above the knees, keeping the torso upright and core engaged.

Position the balls of both feet on the edge of the step or platform with heels hanging off and touching the ground. Ensure a neutral spine and grip the dumbbells firmly at your sides or across the thighs.

Slowly lower the heels below the level of the step by relaxing the calf muscles, allowing a gentle stretch in the gastrocnemius. Control the descent over 2-3 seconds without bouncing at the bottom position.

Press through the balls of the feet and contract the calves to raise the heels as high as possible above the step level. Hold the top position briefly, then return to the starting position in a controlled manner.
