1
Sit on a flat bench with feet flat on the floor or secured under a pad. Keep your back against the backrest with knees bent at approximately 90 degrees. Hold a dumbbell with both hands across your chest at shoulder height.
2
Grip the dumbbell firmly with both hands and position it vertically across the upper chest. Ensure your core is engaged and lower back maintains contact with the backrest. Feet remain planted for stability.
3
Slowly lean back from the seated position by extending through the hip and core, allowing the torso to recline toward the backrest while maintaining control. Lower the body in a controlled manner through spinal extension, keeping the dumbbell held across the chest.
4
Drive through the core and hip flexors to flex the spine and pull the torso forward against gravity. Return to the seated upright position by contracting the rectus abdominis, exhaling as you reach the top position. Maintain steady breathing throughout the movement.
