Dumbbell Incline Squeeze Press

Instructions

1
Sit on an incline bench set to approximately 45-60 degrees with back firmly against the backrest. Position feet flat on the floor for stability. Hold dumbbells at arm's length with palms facing forward and arms hanging naturally at your sides.
2
Grip the dumbbells with a neutral shoulder-width stance. Ensure your back remains against the bench and core is engaged. Begin with arms fully extended and elbows fixed at your sides throughout the movement.
3
Slowly lower the dumbbells in a controlled manner by extending your elbows, allowing the biceps to lengthen. Keep elbows stationary and positioned slightly in front of your torso. Lower until arms reach near full extension without hyperextending the elbows.
4
Curl the dumbbells upward by flexing your elbows, bringing the weights toward your shoulders. Maintain strict form with elbows fixed in place and avoid swinging or momentum. Squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement, then return to the starting position with control.

Overview

If you want to isolate and overload the Biceps Brachii, the Dumbbell Incline Squeeze Press is an excellent addition to your routine. The mechanics of this Strength exercise specifically bias the Upper Arms, while the use of Dumbbell allows for a smooth, natural resistance curve.

Benefits

  • Acts as a highly scalable Strength movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.
  • Improves overall Upper Arms stability and proprioception during heavy loads.
  • Allows for a natural movement path that closely mimics functional daily activities.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Upper Arms injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.
  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Biceps Brachii.

Common Mistakes

  • Losing core tension, leading to poor spinal alignment and reduced power output.
  • Failing to achieve a full range of motion, which drastically limits Biceps Brachii engagement.
  • Using excessive momentum to swing the Dumbbell rather than controlling the eccentric phase.
  • Shrugging the shoulders or compensating with secondary muscles rather than isolating the Biceps Brachii.

Pro Tips

Keep your breathing rhythmic: exhale sharply on the concentric push/pull, and inhale smoothly on the way down.
