1
Sit upright on an adjustable weight bench inclined at 45 degrees with feet firmly planted on the floor or footrest. Grip dumbbells at chest height with elbows bent at 90 degrees, palms facing forward at shoulder width or slightly wider.
2
Position dumbbells at mid-chest level with upper arms slightly flared outward (approximately 45 degrees from torso). Engage core and maintain neutral spine against bench backrest. Take a deep breath and prepare to press.
3
Lower dumbbells in a controlled manner by allowing elbows to bend and move outward, creating an arc motion. Lower until dumbbells reach approximately chest level or slightly below, feeling a stretch across the chest. Keep movement smooth and controlled without bouncing.
4
Press dumbbells upward and slightly inward in a controlled arc motion, extending arms without fully locking elbows at the top. Return to starting position at mid-chest level. Exhale as you drive the weight upward, focusing on chest muscle contraction.
