1
Lie supine (flat on back) on a weight bench with feet firmly planted on the floor or bench. Position shoulders blade-to-blade on the bench with natural arch in lower back. Dumbbells held at chest level with elbows bent at approximately 90 degrees, palms facing forward.
2
Grip dumbbells with neutral wrist position. Position dumbbells at mid-chest level slightly wider than shoulder width. Engage core and maintain contact between back and bench throughout movement.
3
Lower dumbbells in controlled manner by bending elbows outward and slightly backward. Descend until dumbbells reach chest level or slightly below, maintaining 45-degree angle from body. Keep wrists stable and shoulders engaged.
4
Press dumbbells upward and slightly inward by extending elbows and contracting pectoralis major. Return to starting position at chest height with controlled speed. Maintain tension throughout movement without locking elbows at top.
