1
Stand facing a bench with feet hip-width apart. Place the balls of your feet on the edge of the bench with heels hanging off the edge. Keep your torso upright and core engaged.
2
Position hands on the bench for light balance support if needed. Ensure your weight is distributed through the balls of your feet and maintain neutral spine alignment.
3
Slowly lower your heels below the level of the bench by relaxing the calf muscles and allowing a stretch through the gastrocnemius. Move through a full range of motion controlled and deliberate.
4
Press through the balls of your feet and contract the calf muscles to raise your heels as high as possible above the bench level. Achieve a strong plantarflexion contraction at the top, then lower again.
