1
Stand beneath a pull-up bar with feet hip-width apart. Grip the bar with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width, palms facing away from body. Arms are fully extended with shoulders in neutral position.
2
Engage core and stabilize scapula. Take a deep breath and prepare to initiate the pull by depressing and retracting the shoulder blades. Maintain neutral spine throughout the movement.
3
Lower body in a controlled manner by extending arms and allowing shoulders to elevate slightly. Maintain core tension and avoid excessive swinging or kipping. Descend until arms reach near full extension while maintaining slight elbow bend.
4
Initiate concentric phase by depressing scapula and pulling elbows down and back. Drive elbows toward hips, retracting shoulder blades. Continue pulling until chest approaches bar or chin clears the bar (depending on variation). Squeeze latissimus at top position, then return to starting position with control.
