1
Stand centered between the two cable stacks of a cable crossover machine with feet shoulder-width apart. Grip is shoulder height, arms extended outward at approximately 90 degrees to the torso with a slight bend in the elbows.
2
Grasp the handles with a neutral grip (palms facing inward). Position yourself in a staggered stance if needed for stability. Engage core and maintain neutral spine throughout the movement.
3
Slowly allow the cables to pull your arms outward and backward in a controlled manner, creating a stretch across the chest. The movement involves abduction of the shoulder joint as your arms spread wide. Maintain the slight elbow bend and control the eccentric phase.
4
Pull the handles together in a wide arc motion, bringing them to meet at center chest level. Squeeze the pectoralis major at the peak contraction, then slowly return to the starting position with arms extended at shoulder height.
