1
Stand facing the cable machine with feet shoulder-width apart, positioned at a distance where cable tension is maintained when standing upright. Grasp the rope attachment with both hands at head/shoulder level with elbows bent.
2
Hold the rope firmly with hands positioned on either side of the head near the ears. Maintain a neutral spine and engage core muscles before initiating movement. Feet remain planted on the ground throughout the exercise.
3
Slowly lower the weight by extending upward and backward, allowing the cable to pull your torso into extension. This lengthens the abdominal muscles as you resist the pull of the cable, maintaining control throughout the eccentric phase.
4
Pull the weight downward and forward by flexing at the waist, bringing elbows toward hips in a crunching motion. Drive through core contraction to return to starting position, exhaling as you complete the concentric phase. Squeeze abdominals at peak contraction.
