1
Sit upright on the bench with feet flat on the ground or footrest, maintaining neutral spine alignment. Grasp the cable handle or bar with both hands using an overhand or neutral grip, arms extended overhead.
2
Establish a firm seated position with torso upright and core engaged. Position hands slightly wider than shoulder width. Ensure shoulders are depressed and scapulae in neutral position before initiating the movement.
3
Slowly and controlled, allow the cable handle to move upward by extending the arms overhead, resisting the weight. Keep elbows slightly bent throughout the eccentric phase. Maintain an upright torso without arching the lower back excessively.
4
Pull the cable handle down toward the upper chest by driving elbows down and back, adducting and depressing the scapulae. Squeeze the latissimus dorsi at peak contraction. Return to the starting position with controlled tension, resisting the weight stack throughout.
