Overview

Focusing on the Cable Incline Pushdown allows you to target the Pectoralis Major with precision. As a foundational Strength exercise, the integration of Cable provides the necessary tension to trigger hypertrophy, while avoiding excessive joint strain.

Benefits

  • Acts as a highly scalable Strength movement, perfect for both beginners and elite athletes.
  • Promotes balanced muscular development by effectively recruiting the Pectoralis Major and associated synergists.
  • Utilizes Cable to create sustained mechanical tension, forcing deep muscle adaptation.
  • Reduces the likelihood of Back injuries by reinforcing connective tissue strength.

Common Mistakes

  • Losing core tension, leading to poor spinal alignment and reduced power output.
  • Using excessive momentum to swing the Cable rather than controlling the eccentric phase.
  • Failing to achieve a full range of motion, which drastically limits Pectoralis Major engagement.

Muscle Anatomy

The primary driver is the Pectoralis Major. However, the movement also recruits Anterior Deltoids, Triceps, Pectoralis Minor, Serratus Anterior to maintain control of the Cable.

Exercise Variations

  • Dumbbell Cable Incline Pushdown
