1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in one hand with a neutral grip at arm's length beside your body. Keep your torso upright and core engaged throughout the movement.
2
Position your feet firmly on the ground with a slight bend in your knees. Ensure your shoulders are packed down and back, and maintain a neutral spine with your gaze forward.
3
Lower the dumbbell in a controlled manner by allowing your arm to extend downward while maintaining a slight bend in the elbow. Focus on feeling a stretch in the lat of the working side as the weight descends to approximately hip level or slightly below.
4
Drive the dumbbell upward by pulling your elbow back and up toward your hip, leading with your elbow rather than your hand. Squeeze the lat at the top position, bringing the dumbbell to ribcage level, then return to the starting position in a controlled manner.
