Barbell Stiff Legged Deadlift

Instructions

1
Stand upright with feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in both hands at chest height or allowing it to hang at one side. Maintain neutral spine and engaged core throughout the movement.
2
Position feet firmly on the ground with weight distributed evenly. Grip the dumbbell securely with both hands. Keep chest up and shoulders back in preparation for the hip hinge movement.
3
Initiate a hip hinge by pushing hips backward while maintaining a neutral spine. Bend at the hips and slightly at the knees, lowering the torso forward. The dumbbell descends toward the floor in a controlled manner as hamstrings and glutes lengthen. Keep the weight close to the body throughout the descent.
4
Drive through the heels and extend the hips forward powerfully, returning to the upright standing position. Squeeze the glutes at the top of the movement. This hip extension is the primary driver of the concentric phase, creating maximum glute activation.

Benefits

  • Improves overall Hips stability and proprioception during heavy loads.
  • Significantly enhances the structural integrity and power of the Gluteus Maximus.

Pro Tips
