1
Stand facing a flat bench with feet hip-width apart. Hold dumbbells at shoulder height with elbows bent at 90 degrees, palms facing forward. Ensure your torso is upright and core is engaged.
2
Position one foot on the bench behind you with the top of your foot resting on the bench surface. The other leg should be forward with knee slightly bent, ready to support the lunge movement.
3
Lower your body by bending the front knee, allowing it to track over your toes while keeping your torso upright. The back knee descends toward the ground in a controlled manner until the front thigh approaches parallel to the floor.
4
Drive through the front heel to extend the front leg and return to the starting position. Press upward using quadriceps and glute engagement, bringing the hips forward to complete the repetition on one side before switching legs.
