1
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width. Keep arms straight and the barbell resting at mid-thigh level with neutral spine and chest up.
2
Engage your core and maintain a neutral grip on the barbell. Ensure shoulders are retracted and scapulae are positioned normally before beginning the movement.
3
Initiate the movement by elevating the shoulders toward the ears in a controlled manner. Raise the shoulders as high as possible while maintaining arm extension, creating a shrugging motion. Pause briefly at the top of the shoulder elevation.
4
Lower the shoulders back to the starting position in a controlled manner, resisting the weight as it descends. Complete the movement by returning to the neutral shoulder position and repeat for the prescribed repetitions.
